Vortexia reacts to sound by itself, and Twitch, YouTube and Streamlabs events fire effects automatically. Everything else needs a button: a Kick gift, a TikTok rose, or simply a moment you want to punctuate. A trigger link is that button. It is one private URL per effect, and calling it fires that effect on your OBS visual within about a second, even while a game or OBS has focus. Trigger links are included on every plan, the free one as well.
Create your trigger link
- Open the Vortexia dashboard
- Open the TRIGGER LINKS panel near the top of the control deck
- Click Create trigger link
- Copy the URL next to each effect you want on a button

A GET or a POST both work, which matters because some tools only send one of the two. You can add ?source=streamdeck to the end if you want to tell your tools apart later.
Stream Deck
There is no Vortexia plugin to install, and none is needed. Any free plugin that sends an HTTP request will do. API Ninja by BarRaider is free but Windows only and needs Stream Deck 7.1 or later. API Request by Mike Beattie runs on Mac and Windows and needs Stream Deck 4.1 or later. Both are on the Elgato Marketplace.
- Install one of the two plugins from the Elgato Marketplace
- Drag its action onto a key
- Paste the trigger link for one effect as the request URL and leave the method as GET
- Name the key after the effect, for example RAID
- Press it with your OBS visual open and watch the effect run
Touch Portal, using a phone or tablet
Touch Portal turns a phone into a deck, which is useful if you do not own hardware. Create a button, add the HTTP GET action to it, and paste the trigger link into the GET Url field.
Bitfocus Companion
Companion is free and open source and drives a Stream Deck or a browser page of buttons. Add a connection of type Generic HTTP Requests, then give a button the GET action and paste the full trigger link into its URL field.
Streamer.bot
Add a Fetch URL sub-action to any Streamer.bot action and paste the trigger link into its URL field. Fetch URL sends GET requests, which is all these links need. Because Streamer.bot can start an action from almost anything, this is the way to fire a Vortexia effect from a channel point redemption, a chat command, or a Kick event.
TikTok gifts, hands free, with TikFinity
TikTok has no public live-event interface for developers, so TikFinity is how TikTok gifts reach anything else. It can call a trigger link the moment a gift lands, which makes TikTok gifts fire effects automatically rather than by hand.
- In TikFinity open Actions & Events and click Create new Action
- Choose Trigger Webhook as the action type and paste your trigger link, then save
- Click Create new Event and choose the condition, for example a specific gift or a new follower
- Under Trigger all of these actions, pick the webhook action you just made, then save
- The free tier allows five webhooks, which covers the six effects if you pick your favourites
What each effect looks like
- sub: a twisting warp through the whole frame, about 3 seconds
- donation: the frame shakes and a golden ring travels outward, about 3 seconds
- raid: the camera pulls back, then a bright band sweeps outward, about 4 seconds
- hype_train: a slow sustained swirl with a lift in saturation, about 8 seconds
- bits: a sparkle burst, light only and no distortion, about 2.5 seconds
- follow: a soft ripple from the centre, about 2 seconds
Limits worth knowing
- A link accepts up to 20 triggers every 10 seconds, which absorbs a gift storm
- Effects reach OBS even when the dashboard tab is closed, but the dashboard is what sends your audio, so keep it open while you stream
- The dashboard also has trigger buttons and Shift+Alt+1 to 6 shortcuts, which work while that tab has focus
