The looks

Spider Web: orange threads and rings closing in on a black Julia set, on a dark background
Spider Web (free). A Julia set caught in orange threads and rings that tighten as they close in. The shape at its heart keeps changing, from a black creature to a cloud of glowing dust, and the melody pushes it further. Watch it live
Witch’s Brew: a black Mandelbrot set with a green glow, inside a sunburst of light and dark green cells
Witch’s Brew (free). The Mandelbrot set glowing toxic green at the centre of a sunburst of cells, alternating light and dark as they close in on its edge. Watch it live
Haunted: purple and black cells spiralling in on the glowing three-armed Tricorn
Haunted (Plus). Purple cells spiral in on the Tricorn’s three glowing arms. The darkest of the three, made for late-night streams. Watch it live

What is Halloween Stream Backgrounds?

Vortexia has three Halloween looks for your stream, and none of them is a video file: each is drawn live on your graphics card from fractal maths, and moves with the music you play. Spider Web wraps a Julia set in orange threads and rings. Witch’s Brew sets the Mandelbrot set glowing inside a sunburst of green cells. Haunted spins purple cells around the Tricorn. The bass swells the glow around each shape, every kick brightens the threads, and in Spider Web the melody keeps reshaping whatever sits at the centre of the web. The looks hold their colour, so orange stays orange all night. Spider Web and Witch’s Brew are on the free plan, at 720p and 30fps with a small watermark; Haunted comes with Plus. To use one, sign in, pick it from the presets, and add your OBS link as a Browser Source.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Halloween background free?
Two of the three looks are. Spider Web and Witch’s Brew run on the free plan at 720p and 30fps, with a small Vortexia watermark. Haunted is drawn on the Tricorn engine, which comes with Plus at $4.99 a month, along with 1080p at 60fps and no watermark.
Does it react to my music?
Yes. Turn audio on in the dashboard and your OBS overlay follows it: the bass swells the glow, each kick brightens the threads or cells, and the treble lights the beads where Spider Web’s threads cross. With no sound playing it simply breathes, so it still works between songs.
How do I add it to OBS?
Sign in at vortexia.live, choose Spider Web, Witch’s Brew or Haunted from the presets, and copy your OBS link. In OBS, add a Browser Source, paste the link and set the size to your canvas, for example 1920×1080. The same link works in Streamlabs and in any app that has a browser source.
Can I change the colours?
Yes. The Color Shift slider turns the orange into any colour you like, and the Colouring switch puts the web or the cells on any of the five fractal engines. These colourings do not cycle through the rainbow the way the classic looks do, so the colour you pick is the colour your viewers see.
Where do the web and the cells come from?
From the shape’s own maths, as set out in chapter 13 of Peitgen, Jürgens and Saupe’s Chaos and Fractals. The threads are field lines and the rings are equipotentials: they close in on the set, and the threads split in two at every ring. The cells are its binary decomposition. When Spider Web’s centre turns to glowing dust, its Julia set has broken apart into what mathematicians call Cantor dust.
